Blue Like Boycott

There has been talk about whether the movie Blue Like Jazz should be considered a “Chrsitian Movie” – the term in quotes there because it is clearly a movie made by Christians about a Christian thinking through Christian themes, but as a genre, “Christian Movie” implies a whole different set of criteria.

Not a discussion I’m particularly interested in, at least not today.

But the whole question has taken a bizarre turn, as those who are at the forefront of “Christian Movies” are taking steps not only to withhold the label from Blue Like Jazz (a label the Blue people do not want) – but are actually trying to sabotage the movie itself.

Check out director Steve Taylor’s account on Don Miller’s site. (Don wrote the book the movie is based on. I wrote about the book way back here.)

Bizarre, right?
