Reading is Fundamental

Over at Don Miller’s blog, Justin Zoradi offers some insights on the value of being a book reader.

The whole empathy thing makes sense – to read is in effect to stand on Boo Radley’s porch and look over the town, just like Scout did.

(See, you didn’t have to read to get that – you coulda just watched a movie.)

Okay, asking you to read is too much? Start with television. Richard Clark has an interesting take on watching the telly – it might lead to learning how to love your neighbor.

Start with the telly (without missing the point), and then read a book – it just might make you a better human being.
